Description

The film begins with an exterior shot of the Swan Inn followed by a hand written advert for the Burwarton Coal and Trading Co (manager W. E. Badger). We then see a group of men standing outside the Talbot Hotel in Cleobury Mortimer. Young Chris Morrison is seen riding a horse along a lane and then a pony accompanied by an older boy. With the Kings Arms in the background we then see the local butcher, Vic Tong, crossing Church Road and entering his shop. This is followed by a row of buildings on a lane including a sign for Daren Bread. Next we see a lorry driven by haulier Jack Roberts (from Buttonoak near Bewdley) who advertises his services with a hand written board. The next person is Charles Knowles, an auctioneer from Kidderminster, who approaches the camera smoking. Next there are shots of a group of men outside a pub (suggested to be the Fox Inn with landlord Tupper King). We then see a metal footbridge over a river (Porthill Bridge at Shrewsbury?) followed by a shot of a large building and river (said to ‘The Nunnery’, a Roman Catholic School at Cleobury Mortimer with the river being the site of the Lower Forge).

Next is a shot of High Street at Cleobury with a grocers van visible and shots of men on the street standing for the camera and further views of traffic. A man holds up a sign ‘Grand National Trip’ and we then see men at the Aintree racecourse and a shot of a bookmaker. The next section shows an excavator at work (may be work to widen New Bridge). We return to Liverpool for views of the Mersey with the Liver Building visible and people leaving a passenger ferry. The reel ends with brief shots of caged animals at an unidentified zoo and a freight train approaching the camera.
