Description

Opening section shows an RSPCA radio operator talking to a mobile unit. We then have a film insert (with commentary) about the increasing popularity of owning a pet. We see a woman walking a poodle dog which she picks up to carry (the commentary talks about pampered pets) which leads into views inside a pet shop showing some of the accessories that are available. We then see the woman with the poodle in a butcher's shop buying meat and then she takes the dog to an animal beauty parlour where it is groomed. This cuts to shots of dogs in a cage at the RSPCA shelter. The reel ends with library material from Midlands News beginning with a beagle hunt (probably originally from 26 December 1961 - story 3749), a swan being rescued from a fishing line (probably 27 October 1961 at Banbury - story 3628), men searching in a confined space for an animal (probably search for cat in cellar at Kings Heath 14 December 1961 - story 3728), and dog rescued from water (probably dog rescued from Blue Rock at Oldbury 5 September 1958 - story 1392).
