Description

We see a member of theatre staff arriving to work at the old Birmingham Rep Theatre on Station Street. His commentary describes his working day. We see members of theatre staff setting up a stage for rehearsals and back stage scenes. We also see the man shopping for props including a visit to an antiques shop on Henrietta Street. The second section of the programme is John Neville talking to camera about plans for the new Nottingham Playhouse theatre. Neville is one of three artistic directors at the theatre and he talks about the new building and the need for theatre outside London (in the provinces).
