Description

Views of 1930s semi detached houses and shots of a building site. We then see surveyors at work in a field measuring up a new site (a commentary is provided about the importance of this work). We then see the architect John Madin outside the old Birmingham Post and Mail building. He is working on sketches of layouts for the new office building (which would be completed in 1965). He provides a commentary for this section. We then see more views of construction work, old houses being demolished (a line in the commentary talks about the inner rotten ring). We also see a woman walking up to a block of houses and then inside the kitchen of a flat.
