Description

We meet Nobby Clark who works at Wilmot Breedon, a firm that makes car door locks, in Birmingham. Nobby used to be a tool setter but since an accident at home he can no longer stand and uses a wheelchair. His employer found him a new job on the production line. We see him arriving for work by car and working on the production line. Next we see the Labour MP for Stoke South Jack Ashley speaking at an event organised by the Mutual Aid Centre. He is interviewed about the poor record that many employers have in employing people with disabilities. There is also an interview with David Jordan who has written a booklet for the Low Pay Unit and Disability Alliance on the issue. The next interviewee is the Minister for the Disabled, Reg Prentice. The next example of good practice is Pauline Shennons (?) who has cerebral palsy. She is shown driving her invalid car and arriving for work at Warwickshire County Council Trading Standards where she works on the switchboard. She is interviewed about the happiness of being offered a job. The council took advantage of government money to help adapt the building where she works.
