Description

Sue Winter reports from Oxford where couples of the same sex are now able to register jointly for council housing. We see street scenes in Oxford city centre and exterior views of council housing and flats. Councillor Tony Williamson, Labour leader of Oxford City Council, defends the policy by stating that the offer is limited to those couples who are both over 35 and that families will always be given priority over couples. Conservative councillor Janet Todd claims that families needing housing will suffer. Debbie Weiss of 'Lesbian Line' says the council haven't gone far enough and that lesbians in Oxford want to live communally. Richard Pontlin of 'Gay Switchboard' says he would like to have a council house but even though his partner is over 35 he is not.
