A commentary describes the festival which was held from 6 to 16 July in Smethwick as part of the Home - School - Links project. We begin with views of a carnival held at Brasshouse Lane which includes children taking part in theatre projects with members of Jubilee Arts and performances in a marquee from a steel band and male voice choir. In a school building we also see a demonstration of spinning and weaving and a jazz band performing.
The next section shows the Jubilee Arts theatre group performing at Leasowes School to an elderly audience, complete with audience participation. This is followed by events from an international evening held at George Betts School including a dance group (Tolunka) performing to a Jackson 5 song, Morris dancers, a folk group and also a performance from the Wolverhampton reggae band 'Progression'.
