Description

We hear members of the public giving their opinions of journalists over images of journalists standing with film crews, writing in notebooks etc.
Marc Wadsworth, a television journalist, talks about the importance of fair and balanced reporting, later touching on his time working at the Daily Mail. He goes on to mention the unions’ Ethics Council and the Campaign for Real People. We see journalists outside BBC Television Centre taking part in a strike against censorship. Lesley Wood, a spokesperson for the Campaign for Press and Broadcasting Freedom talks of her belief that media workers should be challenged and made aware of their responsibility to the public. TV journalist Vincent Hanna explains the importance of the strike. Lesley Wood describes the ‘filtering mechanisms’ that operate in TV news. Roger Walker and Nicole Pullman, radio journalists at BRMB Birmingham, explain the strike they’re taking part in to keep local news on local radio. Lesley Stephenson, a radio journalist talks about the importance of women fighting their cause through union membership. Steve Bell animations appear throughout.
