Description

We open with a glass tube held up to the camera which appears to contain tiny fish and eggs. Children are then seen using nets in a small outdoor pool. Colour shots then show the tube in more detail. This is followed by further views of what appears to be a fish farm with fish in long ponds being fed (parts are out of focus). Returning to b/w we see men filling and emptying a large metal containing on the bank of a river. A horse drawn carts contains several more of these large jars, it is not clear exactly what they are doing but it may relate to fish farming. Next we cut to a train arriving at Euston station in London. A boy then walks on the platform towards the camera. After shots of Royal guards on horseback we see children feeding pigeons in London and then shots of the children eating tea and reading a newspaper presumably on their homeward journey. There is also a brief shot of the children on the footplate of the locomotive at a station but it is hard to make out.

Next we see the finish of the University Boat Race at Mortlake. The view is partially obscured by the backs of people's heads but a large crowd is visible. We then cut to a garden and a boy stands for the camera with several mice on the collar of his sports jacket. We later see the mice in a large and elaborate home-made mouse house. The children are then see feeding chickens. The next colour section is c1950 and shows Broad Street and the Angel Hotel in Ludlow followed by views of Ludlow Castle. The final section is from 1951 and shows the family gathered in their garden at Albrighton to mark the birth of Sydney Guy's granddaughter. Colour views of flowers in the garden completes the reel.
