Description

We see scenes from the ATV Midlands 'Lunchbox' television programme being shot on location with Noele Gordon at Ripley railway station in October 1961 (quite dark in places). A steam locomotive is used and we see shots of the location television cameras and the cast and crew on the platform. We then see crowds outside a hotel in as Noele Gordon is seen driving away in her Humber car. We then see views of the cliffs overlooking the A6 road near Matlock Bath. We return to the platform at Ripley for more shots of the Lunchbox team at work (including members of the Jerry Allen trio posing for the camera).

The film continues with views of a photographic society trip along a river passing through a lock (River Trent?). Next we see a formal dinner with speeches (and a Mayor present). The featured guest is the entertainer Cyril Fletcher who is later seen on the steps of a building waving at the camera. This is followed by a queue of people outside The Pavilion in Matlock Bath and Fletcher's arrival where he is appearing. We then see brief shots of Buxton including Spring Gardens with a sign for the Spa Cinema visible and the railway arch over the A53. The reel continues with views of a river, shots inside a railway carriage and finally views of Matlock Bath including Harry Gill with dogs, men standing smoking outside a café and children with hula hoops.
