Description

Shopkeepers in the Digbeth area try to take out a High Court injunction to stop the rally, but fail and say they will sue the council if property is damaged. Interview with senior police officer, Mr. Radley, in charge of the police operations covering the rally, re all police leave cancelled and the great cost of the demonstration from public funds, also appealing to the public to stay away from the town centre during the demonstration. Interview with local shopkeeper, Ridley Foster, re his objections to the rally and how he tried to take out a writ against the council. Interview with Birmingham Councillor Clive Wilkinson, Labour Leader, re the cost to the ratepayer for extra police duties and his criticism of the Chief Constable for failing to warn council leaders of the possible consequences of tomorrow's rally. Also threat of schoolchildren being brainwashed by the rally and how the National Front's extremist policies will be infiltrated to the local schools. Interview with Sir David Perris, Secretary of the Birmingham Trades Council, re the reasons why they will be staging a counter demonstration. We see shots of businesses being boarded up in Digbeth (including the coach station). (followed by 2 minutes of trims).
