Description

We open with shots of a Bhangra group on stage (at the Hummingbird in Birmingham) intercut with stills and freeze frame shots of temples and images of Sandwell including a road sign. The video is made up of a series of pieces to camera from school children talking about growing up in Sandwell, the generation gap, arranged marriages, racism and the popularity of Bhangra music. There is an emphasis on Asian culture and questions about 'westernizing' traditional cultures. Throughout the interviews there are further shots of both Bhangra performers (with an audience dancing) and more traditional Asian dance and music.
