Description

We open with a view of Harrogate. Inter-titles are used to introduce firstly, Miss M. A. Cox (President of the Federation of Soroptimist Clubs of Great Britain and Ireland 1947-48) and then Miss Elizabeth Hawes (International Liaison Secretary 1938-48). This is followed by the main title and then a list of the senior members of the organisation. We then see the members’ registration day in the Connaught Rooms and various members posing for the camera: Dr Bartina Wind (immediate past vice-president of the European Federation); Mrs M. D. Rossiter (editor of the British Soroptimist); Miss Grace Chandler (editor of the American Soroptimist); Mary Barratt Due (immediate past president of the European Federation). We then see the exterior of the Royal Hall with members standing chatting outside. The next person introduced by inter-title is Rosamond Fisher (the wife of the Archbishop of Canterbury Geoffrey Fisher and referred to here as Mrs Geoffrey Fisher) followed by the Right Honourable Margaret G. Bondfield and other members getting into a Rolls Royce. Next standing for the camera are: Miss Netta Furness (Australian member) and Miss Kathleen Engledue (New Zealand member). The final section shows exterior shots of Harewood House which is visited by the delegates.
