Description

A woman announces "This is Rosalind Sanderson for the news at 6" She reads from a script to camera. 'News at 6' printed onto a board behind her.

Institute of Directors 'Women on the Board' conference hears Mrs Thatcher has dropped her opposition to a campaign to promote women in jobs of importance.

Sketch about attitudes to women applying for jobs. Uses cardboard cut-outs to introduce each segment of the sketch: Begins with the title 'Jobs for the Girls' with a cut out of a glamour pic and a crude drawing of a topless woman. Goes on to show an advert looking for a 'Marketing Executive'. Then, 'At Home' - a mini sketch where a man and a woman communicate through held up speech bubbles. She wants to apply for a job, he’s not interested. 'The Interview' - Women sits between two men who describe her as the 'token woman'. At the interview she’s bombarded with questions about her suitability for the job. 'The Outcome’ - The woman looks to the camera and gives two outcomes I didn’t get the job because I am a woman' (voice says "wrong") then 'I got the job because I was the best person' - she smiles to camera.
