Exterior views of Lincoln Cathedral and wide shots showing the cathedral's location overlooking the city. Views of the Roman Priory Gate and Potter Gate, cobbles on Bailgate and an archaeological dig at St Paul in the Bail next to the Eastgate Hotel. Remains of the Roman wall in Lincoln. We then see scenes at a Roman re-enactment. After views of nearby parks including anglers we see more views in the centre including the High Street gate and views of the Guildhall. Inside the Guildhall we see civic regalia and documents relating to the wool trade and a group of children being shown the Richard II sword and the Mote Bell ringing. We then see horses grazing on South Common followed by merchant's houses on Michael Gate and Steep Hill including the Jews House. The tour of historic Lincoln continues with views of Lincoln Castle, the interior of the Tennyson Research Centre and the coin collection in the Usher Gallery. We then see the Glory Hole followed by Greyfriars Museum and the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. At the Lincolnshire County Show we see a display of historic machinery, show jumping and a mounted police display. This is followed by sports at Yarborough Leisure Centre and scenes at the Lincoln Water Festival held on Brayford Pool followed by a military parade along High Street for the Lincoln Carnival and a Gilbert and Sullivan performance at the castle. After views of hotels and shops we see the floating fish market in the city and narrow boats on the canal. Back at the cathedral we see stone masons at work and restoration on the building's stained glass, views inside the Wren Library including a copy of Magna Carta and a small vineyard close to the cathedral. The next section shows shots of Lincoln's twin town - Neustadt in Germany - and a vintage vehicle display in Lincoln. We then see scenes during a visit to the Cathedral by Prince Charles followed by a point-to-point horse race at Lincoln racecourse, the interior and exterior of the nearby Doddington Hall and shots of the newly opened Hartsholme Country Park.
