Description

Aston Villa won the European Cup by beating Bayern Munich by a goal to nil in Rotterdam. After the match Gary Newbon talks to the jubilant Villa players in their dressing room. We see Des Bremner and Dennis Mortimer holding a Villa flag. Newbon talks to Mortimer and then briefly Ken Swain. He then talks to goal keeper Jimmy Rimmer who was forced to come off after ten minutes with an injury. He then talks to his replacement Nigel Spink. Finally he talks to goal scorer Peter Withe about the goal and his difficulty in producing a urine sample and to Tony Morley about the match. We also see a shot of the trophy. Next we see the team on board their flight back from Amsterdam Schiphol airport. On the plane Newbon talks to manager Tony Barton about Villa's future. We then see the team posing with the cup on the steps of the aeroplane. This is followed by 6.45 of unedited material without commentary showing the team's open top bus tour through Birmingham city centre with shots of the large crowd in Victoria Square and the team on the balcony of the Council House with the trophy.
