Description

Throughout the reel there are several views of the Pinxton Carnival which are likely to cover the years 1963 to 1967. We open with shots of a parade of decorated floats and marching bands at Pinxton in Derbyshire. A crowd of spectators are seen standing outside the Bacon family business (Bacon's Shoes). Similar scenes of the decorated floats follow in what may be a different year and another view of the outside of the shop. We also see a residential street decorated with bunting.

We then cut to Clumber Park near Worksop in Nottinghamshire where children and then adults take part in races (as part of a Round Table Sunday outing). There is also a three-legged race for the adults. Further carnival parade shots follow (likely to be 1965-66) as a model Gemini 5 rocket is seen as well as children dressed at Batman.

Next we have a family holiday to Mallorca (Majorca) in 1968 where we see a small beach and bay and streets. A very dark b/w section follows shot indoors. Continuing in b/w we have a man at home looking through the lens of a cine camera and then views from the upstairs window of the family home with Brookhill Colliery visible in the distance and children playing in the back garden below (b/w sections are c1963).

Returning to colour we have another Round Table day out to Clumber Park (c1967). A group of men play football in the park. Back at the Pinxton Carnival we again see a parade of decorated floats. Scenes on the beach at Blackpool follow (fairly dark) with children riding donkeys and the tower visible in the background. Another Round Table day out follows this time to Wollaton Park in Nottingham with adults playing rounders and children running races.

Another Pinxton carnival follows, again with the decorated floats and houses displaying bunting. After brief views of a caravan park and children playing cricket we again have an outing to Clumber Park with the family setting up a picnic next to their car (a Morris Oxford) and brief shots of a fun fair.

The next outing shows a group of adults travelling in a small barge which is pulled by a horse (probably around Worksop). The Pinxton Carnival follows with floats and marching bands. Next we see the family with their car (a Rover 2000 this time) and a visit to a small outdoor public swimming pool. We then see members of the Round Table fixing a plaque to the outside of the Travellers Rest pub at Sutton in Ashfield. We then see men playing tennis doubles and children playing football in a yard. Another outdoor swimming pool (lido) follows this time very crowded. We then see adults playing cricket. The final section shows Spain again with views of a wide landscape with a plane taking off in the distance and then a visit to a bull ring to watch bull fighting.
