Notes

Bassett-Lowke was a originally a toy company formed in Northampton around 1899. They later moved into the manaufacture of accurate scale models of railway locomotives and ships aimed at industrial or wealthy private clients. Despite the positive nature of this report the firm was struggling during the 1960s and in 1966 they were bought by Riley and Derry. After several more changes of ownership the brand name was acquired by Corgi in 1996.
