Description

Lionel Hampden pieces to camera about the sale which is taking place tomorrow and some of the lots that are in store at the Riverside sidings in Derby. He looks at some of the items that include locomotive name plates, numbers, station signs, lamps and chairs, some dating back to the early days of the railways including a chair from the London to Birmingham railway of the 1840s and a stained glass window from Derby station. The items are from two recently closed lines: the Burton to Leicester route and the line from Derby Friar Gate to Nottingham Victoria. Outside Hampden talks to Mr Gray the divisional manager of Nottingham about the purpose of the sale. The item ends with a diesel hauled express train passing the camera.
