Description

We first see a carnival led by a marching boy scout band, which is followed by footage of activities such as three-legged football, obstacle race, bouncy castle and space hopper racing. This section is followed by the intertitle "Open Air Service on the Paddock, June 5th", which includes a religious service and singing. The next section is entitled "Jubilee Day - Street Parties" including footage of street parties in Spinney Avenue, Rosebank Road, Aspen Drive and Waterloo Crescent. Children set at tables set up in the street and eat jelly and there are costume parades and games (some interupted by rain when the particpants shelter in garages) "Evergreen Club Outing to Leamington Spa, June 20th" shows senior citizens on a coach and arriving at Leamington while "Show and Gymkhana, 25 June" has images of Morris dancing, a penalty shoot out, donkey derby, skittles, St John's Ambulance volunteers, dog racing and horse jumping. "The Official Opening of Brook Court" shows the exterior of the residential flats and a plaque showing that R. Durrance, the chairman of Blab District Council officially opened the building on 16 May 1977. This is followed by footage of a council meeting in session and then the old Countesthorpe Surgery, which is edited together with the construction of the new Health Centre. The Health Centre is subsequently shown with mothers arriving with babies in prams. There are then shots of primary school children and exteriors of a school ending with shots of the exterior of Hoverdale Engineering Ltd's offices.
