Views of Hampton Loade in Shropshire and the River Severn. The hamlet is split by the river and local people are struggling to reach the other side since the loss of the chain ferry across the river in bad weather on 13 December 1964, an accident that also claimed the life of the ferry man. Lionel Hampden reports to camera and talks to Joyce Link about the problems of reaching her mother-in-law who lives on the other side of the river. After crossing the river by canoe Lionel also talks to Mr Parks of Chelmarsh Parish Council.
