Description

Opening shot shows RAF personnel scrambling at an alert and driving away in a fleet Standard Vanguard cars. We then see night shots of a parked Vulcan aircraft. This is followed by daylight views of the quiet village of Cottesmore in Rutland. We then see RAF personnel on the base, collection their briefing papers, putting on flight suits and eating a meal in the mess. We then see covered nuclear bombs being transported to the Vulcan aircraft. At the scramble signal the ground crews drive to their planes which are made ready for flight. The pilots are driven in a bus across the tarmac and we see them boarding the aircraft, carrying out pre-flight checks, taxiing and their ground shots of their take-off. A Vulcan pilot provides a short commentary section about the responsibility of flying the aircraft. Apart from this section there is no other commentary on the film.
