MACE Screenings and Events
19/06/2009
We're currently putting together lots of exciting programmes and working on projects that will take films from the MACE collection out and about this summer.
If you're in Leicester look out for Then and Now: Street Style Sport Style an exhibition to be held at the Richard Attenborough Centre at Leicester University from July 18th. The event will put the spotlight on the fashions of 1989 as well as looking back twenty years to the last time the Special Olympics were held in Leicester. There'll be material from the MACE collection looking back at what the East Midlands man and woman on the street was wearing at the tail end of the 1980s (and have probably still got stuffed at the back of the wardrobe). More details about the exhibition can be found here.
They'll also be a new archive programme of local films from MACE at the Ludlow Assembly Rooms on 22 July which will include rarely seen films of the Shropshire and Worcestershire.
Carrying on our successful series of screenings in Worcestershire we'll be making a return appearance to the Swan Theatre in Worcester to follow up a packed screening last year. The new event on 21 August continues our partnership with Worcestershire Archives and will put on show more gems from the county.
Finally looking further ahead to September we're also working on material for screening at the Birmingham City Council Arts Fest event in the city. You can keep up to date about this free city wide event by looking at their website here.
