Leslie Dunn report about a re-development plan for Wellingborough. 10,000 people are expected to move to the town due to a London over-spill scheme.

We see street scenes in Wellingborough town centre, an exterior of the Lyric Theatre, the market place (not on market day), exteriors of wooden framed buildings, a road junction and a thatched building next to a gate which leads to Wellingborough Zoo. Reporter Leslie Dunn interviews the Chairman of Wellingborough Urban District Council Howard Deighton who discusses the plans for Wellingborough which include new housing as well as a factory area on the other side of town. Shots of an open area of land are shown, a small boy is seen walking through muddy puddles (presumably this is the area for the proposed factory developments). When asked if there are any plans for any entertainments or amenities for the proposed influx of people the spokesman admits that there are no plans but believes that the county town (Northampton) is close enough for residents to be able to travel. We see shots of a model of the proposed new town centre. Dunn then conducts vox pops in Wellingborough on the plans. Several people: the President of the Chamber of Trade; a local trader; and a man who looks like a bus driver are in favour of the scheme. However, three other people are critical: one thinks that the influx will have a drastic effect; another is concerned about the lack of amenities; and another, a member of a local rugby club, is worried about the lack of playing areas.
